FAQs

1

Q: Is payment by international bank transfer accepted?

A: Yes.

2

Q: How are the counts conducted if the source files are PDF and not MS Word files?

A: PDF files that cannot be converted to MS Word, the calculations will be based according to the ‘National Standards of the People's Republic of China: Translation Service Specifications’ (GB/T 19363.1-2003): Words per Row multiplied by the Total Number of Rows. One character on a row is considered as one row.

3

Q: How are the word/character amounts defined and calculated?

A: Panwords’ definition of characters includes: Chinese text characters, foreign language text characters, punctuations, formulas, and symbols. MS Word’s count of the "number of characters (excluding spaces)" in a Word document can be used as a good basis. This is in positive contrast to the ‘National Standards of the People's Republic of China: Translation Service Specifications’ which recommends that the translation fee is calculated by the number of Chinese text characters in the trial document entitled: "Character Counting Standards for Translation Manuscripts".
